Euploea modesta is an uncommon species about which there is little known. Both sexes are similar in appearance. Some serious study of this species is much needed.

The species is probably multivoltine with several broods per annum. The larvae are quite striking having brown sides with black and white banded backs. They have two pairs of black fleshy tentacles at the front of the creature, and one pair at the rear.

Regional subspecies:   Euploea modesta buxtoni (Sumatra-Indonesia), Euploea modesta lorzae (E.Malaysia), Euploea modesta modesta (Bhutan, NE India, Myanmar, Thailand, Laos, Cambodia, Vietnam, W.Malaysia)

Regional Distribution:  Myanmar, Thailand, Laos, Cambodia, Vietnam, Malaysia, Indonesia

Habitat:  Euploea modesta is found in open montane forest at low elevation up to around 900m a.s.l.

Flight time:  most of the year, depending on location                        Wingspan:  65-75mm

Life History:   not known

Larval Hosts:  Ficus benjamina, Ficus minahassae, Ficus microcarpa, Ficus racemosa (Moraceae), Ichnocarpus frutescens, Nerium oleander, Oxystelma esculentum (Apocynaceae). There are likely to be other plant species that have not been recorded.

Adult Food Sources:  Nectar - Bidens pilosa, Chromolaena odorata (Asteraceae), Lantana camara (Verbenaceae) but there are certain to be many more.  Other - mud puddling
