Like its sister species, L.castelnaui, there is very little known about this species. Although distributed over a fairly large area it is very localised, living in small colonies at specific locations. It is sexually dimorphic with differences in colour, although markings are similar.

Synonyms and previously used names:  Eurytela horsfieldii

Taxonomy:  Animalia - Arthropoda - Insecta - Lepidoptera - Nymphalidae - Biblidinae - Laringa - horsfieldi

Regional subspecies:  L.h.andamanensis (Andaman Islands, India),  L.h.glaucescens (Myanmar, Thailand, Laos, Vietnam, China),  L.h.horsfieldii (Indonesia),  L.h.velitra (Indonesia)

Regional Distribution:  India, Myanmar, Thailand, Laos, Vietnam, China, Indonesia

Habitat:  montane forest up to 1800m a.s.l.                                Wingspan:  40-50mm

Flight time:  not known but possibly only two broods per annum

Larval Hosts:  not known

Adult Food Sources:  Nectar - not known to visit flowers. Other - mud puddling
