Confined to the northern part of the region. A very active butterfly that is usually seen near streams. Both sexes are similar in appearance but the rarely-seen female is often slightly paler in colour than the male. Occasionally found resting on the underside of leaves. Multivoltine with several broods per year. Previously in the Cyrestinae sub-family but now reassigned to the Pseudergolinae.

Habitat: evergreen and deciduous montane forest up to 3000m a.s.l. Wingspan: 45-55mm
Flight time: all year, depending on location
Life History: not known
Larval Hosts: Debregeasia longifolia, Debregeasia orientalis, Debregeasia saeneb, Oreocnide frutescens (Urticaceae), Poa pratensis (Poaceae). Actual host plant used depends upon location and availabilty of plant species.
Adult Food Sources: Nectar - not known to visit flowers. Other - mud puddling, animal dung and urine
