Widespread but not particularly common. Both sexes are similar in appearance but male has extra blue markings on upper hindwings. Frequently rests on the underside of leaves with wings spread. Previously in the Cyrestinae sub-family but now reassigned to the Pseudergolinae.

Habitat: dense tropical and montane forest up to 2000m a.s.l. Wingspan: 70-80mm
Flight time: all year, depending on location
Larval Hosts: Meliosma callicarpifolia, Meliosma fordii, Meliosma myriantha, Meliosma rhoifolia, Meliosma rigida, Meliosma simplicifolia, Meliosma squamulata, Meliosma tenuis (Sabiaceae). Actual host plant used depends upon location and availabilty of plant species.
Adult Food Sources: Nectar - not known to visit flowers. Other - mud puddling, animal dung, oak tree sap, rotting fruit
