Thaumantis diores is quite widespread across the region but is rarely common. This is another one of those species about which little appears to be known. Both sexes are similar in appearance but the female is slightly larger. It is not really known but the species is probably multivoltine with several generations per year.

Regional Distribution: India, Nepal, Bhutan, Bangladesh, Myanmar, Thailand, Laos, Cambodia, Vietnam, China
Habitat: This species is usually found in dense lowland and montane forest. It has been recorded at altitudes up to 1300m a.s.l.
Flight time: most of the year, depending on location Wingspan: 80-100mm
Larval Hosts: Bambusa sp. (Poaceae). Not fully known and more research is needed.
Adult Food Sources: Nectar - not known to feed on nectar. Other - over-ripe fruit, rotting organic matter, mud puddling
