Quite widespread across the region but is rarely common. This is another one of those species about which little appears to be known. Both sexes are similar in appearance but the female is slightly larger. Not really known but probably multivoltine with several generations per year.

Regional Distribution: India, Nepal, Bhutan, Bangladesh, Myanmar, Thailand, Laos, Cambodia, Vietnam, China
Habitat: dense lowland and montane forest, up to 1300m a.s.l. Wingspan: 80-100mm
Flight time: most of the year, depending on location
Larval Hosts: Bambusa sp. (Poaceae). Not fully known and more research is needed.
Adult Food Sources: Nectar - not known to feed on nectar. Other - over-ripe fruit, rotting organic matter, mud puddling
