Rohana parisatis

A widespread species usually found near streams during the morning hours. Not usually seen in the afternoon. Sexually dimorphic with the rarely-seen female (see below) looking totally different to the male.

Taxonomy:  Animalia - Arthropoda - Insecta - Lepidoptera - Nymphalidae - Apaturinae - Rohana - parisatis

Regional Distribution:  India, Bhutan, Bangladesh, Myanmar, Thailand, Laos, Cambodia, Vietnam, China 

Habitat:  rainforest and humid deciduous forest up to 1200m a.s.l.                                Wingspan:  45-50mm

Flight time:  most of the year depending on location

Larval Hosts:  Celtis philippensis, Celtis tetrandra, Celtis timorensis (Cannabaceae)

Adult Food Sources:  Nectar - not known to visit flowers. Other - mud puddling, over-ripe fruit, animal droppings
