Charaxes bernardus

Charaxes kahruba is an uncommon species with a strong and rapid flight. It is quite timid and therefore difficult to approach. The colours on the underside of the wings can be much brighter on some individuals in  the dry season form. This is another member of this subfamily about which very little is known.

Regional Distribution:  Nepal, Bhutan, India, Bangladesh, Myanmar, Thailand, Laos, Vietnam, China

Habitat:  Charaxes kahruba is found in rainforest and humid deciduous forest, usually at low elevations up to 1200m a.s.l.

Flight time:  most of the year depending on location                           Wingspan:  60-80mm

Life History:   no known

Larval Hosts:  not known

Adult Food Sources:  Nectar - not known to visit flowers. Other - mud puddling, animal dung
