Polyura dolon is an uncommon species that is limited to the northern parts of the region. Probably only one or two broods per annum depending on location. Strong and rapid flight. Males are very territorial. Little is known about this species and more study is needed.

Regional subspecies:   Polyura dolon carolus (NW Myanmar), Polyura dolon dolon (Nepal, NW India), Polyura dolon grandis (Myanmar, Thailand, Laos, N.Vietnam), Polyura dolon magniplaga (Yunnan), Polyura dolon southernensis (S.Vietnam)

Regional Distribution:  India, Nepal, Bhutan, Myanmar, Thailand, Laos, Vietnam, China

Habitat:  Polyura dolon is found in a wide range of forest habitats and has been recorded at elevations up to 2200m a.s.l.

Flight time:  February to August ? depending on location                    Wingspan:  60-75mm

Life History:   not known

Larval Hosts:  not known but likely to be Rhamnaceae or Fabaceae species

Adult Food Sources:  Nectar - like most other members of this subfamily it is not known to visit flowers.  Other - mud puddling, animal dung
