An uncommon species confined mostly to the southern half of the region. It is generally most active in the mornings. It has a fairly weak flight, fliting from one leaf to another, and frequently rests on the underside of the leaves. Sexes are almost identical but there is a marked difference between subspecies. Multivoltine with several broods per annum.

Habitat: open spaces within forest areas Wingspan: 60-70mm
Flight time: most of the year depending on location
Life History: egg 3 days instar 1 2 days instar 2 2 days instar 3 2-3 days instar 4 3-5 days instar 5 6-7 days pupa 6-7 days Total egg to adult 24-29 days. All times approximate.
Larval Hosts: Homalium foetidum (Salicaceae), Rinorea anguifera (Violaceae), Antidesma sp. (Euphorbiaceae). There may be other hosts that have not yet been recorded. Actual host plant used depends upon location and availabilty of plant species.
Adult Food Sources: Nectar - not known to visit flowers. Other - mud puddling
