Fairly widespread but not really common and may be limited by their need for particular host plants. Fast and powerful flyers. This species is dimorphic and the sexes are totally different in appearance (see photos below). Multivoltine with several broods per annum. 

Synonyms and previously used names:    Pantoporia cama, Pantoporia camasa

Taxonomy:  Animalia - Arthropoda - Insecta - Lepidoptera - Nymphalidae - Limenitidinae - Athyma - cama

Regional Distribution:  India, Nepal, Bhutan, Myanmar, Thailand, Laos, Cambodia, Vietnam, China, Taiwan, Malaysia, Indonesia

Habitat:  montane forest locations near streams, up to 2000m a.s.l.                    Wingspan:  50-60mm

Flight time:  most of the year, depending on location.

Larval Hosts:  Glochidion acuminatum, Glochidion lanceolatum, Glochidion nubigenum, Glochidion philippicum, Glochidion rubrum, Glochidion wrightii, Glochidion zeylanicum (Phyllanthaceae).  Actual host plant used depends upon location and availabilty of plant species.

Adult Food Sources:  Nectar - Gentiana capitata (Gentianaceae), Magnolia campbellii (Magnoliaceae), Vanda cristata (Orchidaceae), Tagetes erecta (Asteraceae). NOTE: there are probably other plant species visited but not yet recorded or observed.  Other - mud puddling.
