Athyma cama
Photo taken at Chiang Dao Nature Sanctuary, Chiang Mai, Thailand ♂  540m a.s.l.

Athyma cama is fairly widespread but not really common and may be limited by their need for particular host plants. They are fast and powerful flyers. This species is dimorphic and the sexes are totally different in appearance (see photos below). The species is multivoltine with several broods per annum. After hatching, the larvae crawl to the edge of the leaf, feeding on the leaves, and collecting their own feces. They spin silk to stick the fecal particles to the edge of the leaf where they are eating. The fecal particles are arranged in strips in order to hide the larvae. This 'nest' composed of dung particles is sometimes called a dung bridge.
