Euthalia alpheda is not common although quite widespread throughout the region. The sexes are similar in appearance but the female is paler and slightly larger than the male. The species is multivoltine with several broods per annum. It is not well known and further study is needed.

Taxonomy:  Animalia - Arthropoda - Insecta - Lepidoptera - Nymphalidae - Limenitidinae - Euthalia - alpheda

Regional Distribution:  India, Bhutan, Bangladesh, Myanmar, Thailand, Laos, Cambodia, Vietnam, China, Malaysia, Indonesia, Philippines

Habitat:  Euthalia alpheda is found in montane forest. It has been recorded at elevations up to 1600m a.s.l.

Flight time:  most of the year, depending on location                         Wingspan:  50-70mm

Larval Hosts:  Mangifera indica, Mangifera pentandra (Anacardiaceae).  There may be other hosts that are used which have not yet been recorded.

Adult Food Sources:  Nectar - not known if this species visits flowers for nectar.  Other - mud puddling, over-ripe fruit
