Neptis cartica
Photo taken at Doi Suthep-Pui National Park, Chiang Mai, Thailand. 450m a.s.l.

Neptis cartica has a limited distribution across the northern half of the region. The sexes are similar in appearance but there is some sexual dimorphism, with males possessing more uniform dark brown wings with consistent narrow white bands and minimal spotting variation across individuals. The females in contrast display a degree of polymorphism, differing in the width of white bands on the forewings and the presence, size, and arrangement of white spots on both sets of wings. It has a typically slow and leisurely 'sailer' flight. The species is believed to be univoltine with just one brood per annum but unfortunately there is little information available about larval hosts. More study is needed.
