Distribution is mainly confined to the northern part of the region and is not common. The sexes are similar in appearance but the female is significantly larger and the underwings are paler in colour.  There are also seasonal variations. Bivoltine with only two broods per annum. This species is not well known and further in-depth study is much needed.

Regional subspecies:   E.f.attenuata (Myanmar), E.f.franciae (India, Nepal, Bhutan), E.f.galara (Myanmar), E.f.raja (India, China)

Regional Distribution:  India, Nepal, Bhutan, Myanmar, Thailand, Laos, Vietnam, China

Habitat:  dense forest regions, up to 1800m a.s.l.                                              Wingspan:  70-90mm

Flight time:  March to November, depending on location

Larval Hosts:  not known as hosts have not yet been recorded.

Adult Food Sources:  Nectar - not known if this species visits flowers for nectar.  Other - mud puddling, rotting fruit
